Summary This series consists of the files of the Court of Assistants for the years 1699/1700-1706. The court was composed of members of the Upper House of the General Assembly. The files include pleadings, copies of county court records, records of costs, etc. The arrangement is roughly chronological. See also Crimes and misdemeanors (Conn. archives v. 16-22, boxes 13-15) and Private controversies (Conn. archives v. 114-119, boxes 51-66) for other court papers
Custodial History The "Connecticut Archives" are the papers of the Connecticut General Assembly from its beginning to 1820. The first series (163?-1790) was selected and arranged by Sylvester Judd around 1845, and later transferred from the Secretary of State's office to the State Library. The second series (1790-1820) was turned over to the State Library around 1910
